Aztec Rugs Can Be Just What You Need to Improve Your Home Decor
Aztec area rugs can be just what you need to really take your home decorating style to the next level. Aztec rugs are classy, intricate, and typically of exceptional quality. Every home that you step into that is sporting this classic style will wow all forthcoming visitors. I recently decided to add one of these area rugs to my home and I am very happy that I did.
If you’ve been following any interior design blogs lately then you’ll find that carpet is out and area rugs are in. People want rustic, worn floors with beautiful area rugs laid throughout. Area rugs are much easier to clean and they allow you to have so many different patterns and styles throughout your home. If you’re looking for the ultimate place to find Aztec rugs then I’d check out Southwestern Rugs Depot.
Décor is a powerful tool which influences us in ways that we often overlook. It has the ability to change perspectives and generate ideas, merely by the way one feels when they enter a room. There are endless possibilities towards optimizing space, color, lighting, and plants that can benefit one’s lifestyle drastically. Décor can be tailored to individual needs and create moods both good and bad (peace, agitation, solitude, creativity, social, aggression).
This year I have had the privilege of having my own room, amongst five other girls in an apartment. It has become a necessity that my room is a relaxing cave for me to retreat to when the outside world gets too hectic. Naturally, the one window room is a humble size, making the décor and organization vital in creating a homey space. The University provides some pieces of furniture for each room, and with these bulky basics, I began to work on creating a spacious center for myself. The importance of natural light is inherent considering my Caribbean background.
My childhood was spent outside in the hot sun, running through grass and sand, chasing the horizon. It seemed fitting that my room expressed some of these qualities as well. The sun shines through my blinds and into my bed each morning, waking me up right on time for my morning classes. Unfortunately, the XL Twin size bed is just too comfortable and I will spend another 15-30 minutes enjoying my space. Do not doubt the importance of a quality mattress cover, comforter, and pillows! The baby blue walls and colorful art hung upon them compliment the glow of sunshine just enough to inspire me to finally get out of bed. It is important to tailor the décor to suit your daily lifestyle. For as long as I can remember, I have not been a morning person.
There’s something about the mystery of night that keeps me awake and creative. To accommodate both of these factors, I have arranged my furniture and art accordingly. Closest to me (and my bed) are elements of my life that bring me a sense of security and comfort: Polaroids of family and friends, a notebook, plants, gemstones, and books. Throughout the remainder of the room, I have placed décor in a creative fashion to encourage inspiration and support my fast-paced lifestyle. The walls are filled with various things I’ve found, made, seen, or gifted. There are photographs and polaroids of places I’ve been, more friends, nature, and animals. Intertwined are mementos from events and places I’ve gone, objects-trouvé (found objects) that I have created on, paintings, drawings and post-it notes. Basically, anything that is creative and interesting to me, goes on the walls.
I use it to fuel more creativity and to make the room feel more worldly. The room transforms from a constricting cube to a hub for endless journeys. The armoire is stuffed from top to bottom along with hats and bags hanging from the protruding hooks for easy access. My million pairs of shoes are cleverly hung on the backside of my door. On one side of the armoire is my desk, the place where all the magic happens. I made sure to keep it far away from my bed, for obvious reasons (must eliminate all distractions and temptations). At night I simply turn on my speaker, sit at my desk, look around at the walls and create. Surrounding my desk are various lamps so that I can adjust the ambiance accordingly and let’s face it, the dorm style LED lights installed on the ceilings are painful.
My décor goals are to create a home that suites my need to have personal space and welcomes others as well. College is such a crazy time and having a place to regroup and reflect is important. Through décor I am able to have the creative space that I’ve always wanted. When walking into my room I hope others feel inspired to create, get cozy and have a glimpse into my world, thoughts, and style.
